Erythema Nodosum.. aka little red bumps! HELP.

Okay... so I was reading back to posts from the beginning of the month about fistulas, etc.. but there was also mention of erythema nodosum. I think I have this!! I didn't mention it to my doctor the other day because I thought I had gotten bitten by something in the yard the other day. Once I googled this word... I was shocked!! I have about 6 of these bumps on one shin that I got the other day... and on my other shin is a dark flat purple one which I had for a few weeks... it started out as what I thought was a bite and is now just purple.... the pictures I found on here match up too... and since I have been having a flare since March.. and all this leg and joint pain.. this term erythema nodosum makes sense. :O(

What I need to know is.. is it serious enough that I should make another appt with my doctor asap or is it okay to wait and see how I respond to the meds he just gave me Tuesday and wait until the middle of May when I am suppose to see him again? I think its just another symptom of my flare from what I have just read on other sites... but I would appreciate some advice!!!

Sounds like EN.
It is important and to inform your dr. about this. Maybe call him and speak to him and tell him whats going on, and ask him what he thinks (if you should wait or come in earlier than your next appointment).

I was diagnosed with UC a year ago, was on prednisone for 3 months and as i was tapering off it, i developed EN. Your story sounds exactly like mine. I thought it was a bite or twop and didnt even consider going to the dr abt it until they got bigger and uncomfortable, hot to the touch etc. He switched me to 6MP (Mercaptopurine) which does the same kind of thing as Prednisone but does not have the same side effects as it. cleared up within a few days and never heard from since.
