Almost a year ago I had a prolactinoma (non-cancerous hormone producing tumor on my pituitary gland) removed via Endo-nasal surgery. It sucked! Anyway - since then I have had a pretty wicked flare. Meds arent really helping - pred, asacol, canasa, etc - not too much luck.
My GI wanted to start me on Remicade however after some questioning w/ the folks who make Remicade, he was advised not to start me on the treatment because of my tumor.... He is sending me to another specialist in Pittsburgh but I imagine for something other than Remicade.
I had hesitations as far as starting it because nobody really knows the long term effects, but I am pretty bummed that it is not an option. I really want to avoid surgery if possible...
I want to ask if anyone else has experienced this - although doubtful since my tumor issue combined with UC isnt an every day thing.... Concidentally one thing it did do was produce massive levels of Prolactin in my system which has been linked to causing various issues in people w/ immune system... My surgeon suspected that i had the tumor for 15+ years....
