I posted this in IBS forum also as it is for that but I thought maybe someone here has taken it also. My doctor wants me to take it but I am worried about side effects.

Well, I've taken it for over 19 years and sing its accolades often.

I started with 10mg dosage. I'm now using 20mg as needed.

Quincy - Do you take it 4 times a day? Do you ever have "mental" side effects? Did it take you a while to get used to it? Im just worried because the side effects of anticholinergic drugs are kind of weird

I don't want it to affect my school. And this is putting my up to 21 pills a day if I take it 4 times a day....

Hi..no, I've never taken it 4 times a day...mostly it's one in a day. The very most would be 3x if I was so uncomfortable while flaring or feeling super nauseated.

What is the dosage..10mg or 20mg  (not how many) you've been prescribed?

The only thing I've noticed is "relaxed" vision, especially if I'm tired. But, that's mostly since my close focus vision started to change at age 40. I've always had some sort of anxiety and wandering thoughts (seem to go together)...but they're definitely not from the Bentylol. I'm actually more "relaxed" from them.

How much pain and cramping are you suffering from?

he put on the bottle to take one to two pills(10 mg each) 30 min before meals and at bedtime as needed for abdominal pain and diarrhea. Then on the handout it says not to miss doses.

I don't have abdominal pain hardly at all but I have flank pain on my right side / back that comes and goes. It is there when I am flaring stronger. And I had upper stomach pain for a while which I think was gerd. He is doing an upper scope a week from wed. He said if the pain doesn't go away with this and the scope is negative then he will do a cat scan.

My main concern is that something else is going on but I don't know what it would be. No one else seems to have pain like mine. My doctor even seemed kind of puzzled. I'm on Entorcout which makes my stools more firm but I still go 5-6 times a day and depending on what I eat, they can be pretty loose. I'm also having bladder leaking problems which I talked to my gyno about last week and she said because of my age and that Ive never had kids that it is probably something not normal. She made an appointment with a specialist in two months and she said she suspects my bladder is imflammed. I wonder if something else is causing all of my problems. I am so sick of my body not working correctly.

Hi...well, it very well may be that something else is going on. Have you had liver enzyme tests done?

The dicyclomine will help bladder spasming...are you going to see a urologist in two months?

You could maybe up your dosage of Culturelle...

It's good you have other tests in the works....the waiting game is the worst.

It's good your doc suggested 10mg...maybe take them twice a day...one at bedtime and one before lunch. See if that works.

If you feel crappy from 4 daily, then you'll stop taking them...I suggest you increase rather than stop altogether.


I went through all you're going through and can relate bigtime about getting sick of all of it....

Seems your doc is at least wanting for you to have less discomfort.

If you're flaring..consider rectal meds.

yes I'm going to a urologist but they can't get me in before the end of June. He said they tested my liver and kidney function but I don't know if that is the same thing as my liver enzyme. I feel like I did before I found out that I have UC. The worst thing is I can't stop worry about everything. I just hope I have something treatable.

I take it occasionally as needed....it seems to help w/ cramps a little. I have not noticed side effects. I have taken up to 4 pills a day...
