Prednisone Symptoms

Every time I take Prednisone I get severe chest pain, that feels a lot like heartburn - and I was wondering if anyone else feels like this when they take the drug? I am going to a new doctor on Monday, and I will be asking him the same thing, but I wanted to know if this is normal or what?

Adonis, that would almost certainly be.....heartburn. Prednisone is well known for being hard on the stomach. In addition to gastric reflux and that chest pain, it can cause stomach bleeding. Be sure you're taking it with food, and I always took Zantac morning and evening when I was on it so I didn't have to worry if I was having a heart attack every day.

Yes pred. can cause heartburn. If you are seeing your doctor on Monday ask if you can go on an acid reflux med. If you want to do something otc there is Zantac and Prilosec. What dosage are you on?
