Achy arms and legs

A long time ago I started having a achy feeling right where my legs bend. It never really lasted that long so I never thought much of it. I came back from school about 2 weeks ago and since then its gotten worse. It started in my legs. It almost felt like I had the flu (but I obviously didn't). It was definitely worse at night and kind of hinders my sleep. Its never been below my knees though...And then today I started getting the same feeling in my arms- mostly my elbow. I'm soo freaked out! The last thing I need is another disease to handle. I see the doctor this week but do any of you guys have a theory on this?

Usually when my knees start to really hurt me is when I notice an increase of my Uc symptoms. You haven't had an increase of your symptoms lately have you? Don't freak out. :) I get a lot of random joint pains even while in remission and no doctor can find anything wrong with me so I think it's par for the course of this DD. But it's best to be safe then sorry and it's good that you seeing the doc.

Hi ! Its annoying but don't freak out over it !! It's not "another" disease.. its just your colitis !! I only recently began experiencing the same thing.. it felt like what my mom used to call "growing pains" when I was little. I thought it was because I was off work due to a little flare and I was seizing up!! lol When I went to my Dr he said its Colitis related arthritis. He put me on the Sulfa for it which is also used to treat arthritis and it has helped alot!! I began getting headaches from it tho and am now only on one a day until I can see my GI specialist. You might start getting lower back pain as well... or pain in other joints like your wrists and anles. Just make sure you tell your DR about it !!

No, I haven't had an increase in UC symptoms. I had a bad day yesterday but I have them once in a while, probably due to dairy etc. I'm kind of figuring that it has something to do with my UC but I'd still rather know what it is...The only reason I'm so concerned is in 3 months I go back to school and I won't have my doctor down there and it makes things sooo much more complicated!

Hi

I have aches in my shoulders, elbows, wrists, and knees, occasionally fingers too.  The toes on my right foot have joined in today!  Does this happen to anyone else?

i hear ya, and back in the day I would just take some ibuprofen or naproxen and it would take care of the aches, but those are no no's for UC. So I take tylenol now, but it doesn't have the same effectiveness. I use heating pads, hot showers, and stretches too, and a massage when i can get my husband to do it :D

Definitely talk to your doc - it's amazing how much UC can affect other parts of the body!
