Had my final "loading" dose last Wednesday. Typical 2 day great reaction-no blood or mucous but still 10 bms. My predisone was decreased to 30mg from 40mg.

Unfortunately, I have had the most persistent D since my flare began last Thanksgiving. Yesterday, I think I went 40+ times. Also, the stool is a different color (lighter brown ) and much more "pungent".

I am starting to wonder whether the Humira will work. How much longer do you think it takes to conclude that the Humira will work?

I am mentally preparing for the prospect of surgery. I have to do something to be able to live my life again.

While you are tapering the Prednisone, I wouldn't expect the Humira to do much of anything other then "absorb the blow". In my case with other similar drugs, I had to wait until I had tapered off of prednisone completely before I really started to see any improvement.

Have you been tested recently for c.diff? And have you told your GI about the change in stool colour and smell?

My husband is on Humira. Only after three months did we see any improvements. Like you, he experienced those 2-day great reaction. Good luck!

It took one month after the loading dose for me to notice any changes, but then there was rapid improvement -- no pain, formed stools, less frequency and urgency. Hang in there!
