What the HELL did I get myself into..........

I have really only one quick question.  To this day nobody has really explained to me what ULCERATIVE COLITIS is.  So, what is it?  And what do I have to look forward to?

-I am surprised your doctor didn't explain more, that is frustrating.
-U.C. is an inflammation of the lining of the intestine of the colon (also called the large intestine) and the lowest part of the colon, the rectum. It is a form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and it is a chronic (lifelong) condition. Cause is unknown. There is no known cure. People with U.C. alternate between flare-ups and periods of remission throughout their lives. You could be in remission for many many years. This website is wonderful. I was recently diagnosed and this site has become a wealth of information to me. Browse around on it and slowly start learning.
