Well, I was able to guzzle all of the Trylite (sp) except for the last two glassess, which both promptly came back up.
Anyway, the doc said that the inflammation had spread up the left side of my colon. The doc told my husband that it was obvious what I was taking (Lialda and Canasa suppositories) were not working. So, he suggested either giving pred another go or doing an immune modulator for a year and then weaning off since we want to start a family soon.
At least that's what I have gathered from what my husband heard/understood from the doctor :) I was in there, and my husband said I talked to the doctor, but I don't remember it. DH's story has changed a couple of times, so I don't know for sure :) DH has been such a sweetheart during the last two days, so I am not going to give him a hard time about it!
Anyhow, the doctor said now would be a good time if I wanted to give the steroids another go since it's the summer and I won't be in a classroom with 20+ kids for a couple more months. Last time I took steroids, I turned into a raving witch. I only took 20 mgs.
Anyway, the doc told us to talk it over this weekend and he will call Monday.
My husband and I have talked and we will probably go the route of the immune modulators. I am going to a new school this year, and I don't want to take maternity leave my first year anyway. With no mandatory maternity leave in my state, I have to bank up personal days and pray that our kid is born close to one of school's breaks. At the beginning of next year, I will have 22 personal days. It would get pretty expensive paying $65 per day for about 8 weeks worth of leave! Okay, so that was my mini soapbox - sorry.
Thanks to all of you who have responded to my posts - I greatly appreciate all of the support and comments!
