Restroom Acces Act

I LOVE this act! Once it was passed in Minnesota, my GI office sent me a card explaining the act. I had it laminated and its in my wallet :)

I'll poop on their floor, how about that? I'll make sure to shake my leg on the way out to get even more and drag it through the store and throw a dollar on top of it.

jk, but seriously, if I have to go and cannot hold it, it's going to come out and down my leg and onto the floor. It really is in their own best interest.

(sorry I have been on a prednisone fire since last night, meaning I am a bit more spicy than usual).

LOL! Spicy? I like that - because boy have I been quite spicy myself lately.

im lucky, everyone i know knows about my condition as i dont hold back with information (much to their gasps..hehe).. so when i have to use the bathroom, no matter where it is or if im allowed to, they stand up as my cavalry and get me in there no matter what.

so funny to see... they go on about them having to clean up a mess, she's really sick, get outta the way, try and stop us... etc etc...
and it works everytime.

this is awesome! I wonder if we can petition somehow to get it passed? Then, if only I could get my coworkers out of the bathroom when I'm in crisis!

Hmm maybe go to your state governments website and put in Ally's Law in the search?

Just pressed the "submit" button on an e-mail to Governor Bob Riley of Alabama about Ally's Law. Maybe we will get this law for Alabama. I wish I would have saved it. I explained briefly what UC is was since as you all know most people have never even heard of UC. Then, part of it said "my body gives me two to five minutes to get to a toilet. Some people don't even get that long. Due to the damage of the disease, we cannot 'hold it.' It is physically impossible. The results are the same whether we reach the toilet or not or not. It involves diarrhea, blood, mucous and break-out-in-a-cold-sweat pain. Imagine being in a public place and being told toilets are for employees only and having to stand there and soil yourself in front of everybody while being doubled over in pain. It happens to some of us every day." I told him he has probably never even heard of any of this because so many of us are embarrassed to talk about it. But that we are out here. Lots of us.

Pen and paper? What's that? :) I think it's a great idea for us to contact our government to try and get this act passed in all the states. It would make our life as well as other "plumbing" conditions much more easier to handle in public situations.

I think it is because business owner's have a concern about having a customer out of sight in areas that are employee only. There could be merchandise or files or something. If it is out of the normal area a staff member may have to walk the customer to the bathroom and show them where it is. That happened to me in a bank. It was urgent, they let me go, but the employee restroom was on another floor, past the vault. Someone had to walk me there and wait outside until I was done. If they only had one employee that would be impossible. I guess if they had two it would have left the other one with a long line. So I guess that is why they chose three. Another example is I used to work in a gift shop that had one bathroom down a long hallway. Often I worked alone. I would have been really sketched out to walk a strange guy down that hallway to the bathroom. I think it is a bit of a safety issue for the employees. But in my opinion it is WAY better than nothing. Once people start hearing they have a legal obligation to do something and are more educated about our issues, they are a lot less likely to say no in the first place. I have been VERY lucky and used tons of employee bathrooms all over. Hopefully this will just help get more on board.

I didn't like that it said in a "retail establishment." What will define retail? Will coffee shops and bars be retail? What about banks? What about the gazillion office buildings?
