Embarassing butt question!!

I dont think its a hemroid, but I have a dime sized swollen lump to the right of my anus, not coming out of it. (ahh so graphic) It kind of hurts to sit and walking is well, kind of awkward. Could it just be an irritation or a pimple or something that got infected? I googled hemroids and saw some lovely pictures but not what quite what I have, I also looked up anal fissures and this isnt a tear its just a large painful lump. I also had a colonoscopy on Tuesday and noticed this sore on Wednesday (it started out small and is now considerablly larger). I don't know if its at all related. Any ideas? Oh, and happy 4th. haha :)

Hmm, sounds kinda like a thrombosed hemi I had last year. The pain got better then it went away on its own. It came out of nowhere so I didn't think it was a hemi either. If it isn't gone in a few days you might have your doc take a look just to be sure.

Please check out this link, it shows both kinds of hemmies (first set of pics) but it also shows pics (second set of pics under pics of hemmies) of perianal crohn's skin tags (aka: elephant ears) which are directly related to crohn's disease only...if that's what your butt looks like then I'd be going to the doc and having him check (which you should do regardless) because it's not uncommon for people to be misDX with UC when they infact have CD.

I have something similar to that. I ended up seeing my GI and he said it was a skin tag but not a perianal (also when I was diagnosed I had some genetic testing done and I don't have the right markers for CD). Its so dang annoying and it hurts if I go poop more than once a day :( I'd definitely get it checked out!!

Thanks for the information everyone. I checked out the website, none of it looks like mine. What I have isn't purple or red as indicated by the sites that I've looked at. Today it looks like there is a white spot which leads me to believe it could be a cyst or just a really bad zit or something (ew!). Either way, it hurts alot more this morning and I dunno what to do till monday! Ill have to wait it out for the weekend to call my GI. Hopefully it gets better, any ideas on what to do to relieve the discomfort? I dont know if i should be heating it, or icing it. :-/ Thanks!

Perianal crohn's skin tags are flesh colored but if you feel that what you have doesn't match up with the pictures of the crohn's skin tags then it very well could be an abcess in which taking sitz baths with epsom salts would be a good thing to do until you can get to your doc to check it out which I hope will be as soon as possible.

I would suggest the sitz bath with epsom salts as well. I would also put a bit of ointment (neosporin, aquaphor, or a&d) on it to see if that helps at all.

Let us know what the doc says on Monday!

I took about 4 hot baths yesterday and it came to a head, and I went to put ointment on it and it popped. Possibly one of the most disgusting things I've experienced! The human body is pretty gross! haha. Instant relief though and today it doesn't hurt at all. I keep getting large random body zits from prednisone since my dosage got upped (again) so I think I just got a prednisone pimple in a very awkward place. I'm very relieved it wasn't a hemmie, thanks for all the support. I'm glad theres a place to ask questions you wouldn't dare ask anyone else!

I to think you had an abscess. Please see your GI as you may need a course of flagyl so this pocket doesn't fill up again. Keep up the hot baths as this will help it to continue draining. I hope you never have another abscess and are feeling better ASAP.

If it's an abscess the wound site needs packing daily to heal from the bottom up.Otherwise you end up with an air pocket that will probably get infected again.Trust me,I've had a perianal abscess that needed surgery,as said before,see a doctor ASAP.
