My 23 year old daughter has dealt with UC for 2 years with a severe case from day 1 this site has been so helpful in providing info and support ,unless you have this or have a family member or friend with there isn't alot of understanding out there of this illness.Stores not letting u use restrooms etc.We tried each line of medicine, asacol,colazol,lialda,6MP{made her sick} methotrexate and finaaly Humira with no help at all.July 8 she is colon free and recovering nicely, the surgeon cut open the colon upon removal and said it was enflamed from top to bottom. Steroid were the only thing to work.I can understand hesitation for surgery, we had the ostomy nurse in yesterday and i read every peice of info , its scarey,My daughter is better with than Me, she said whatever the outcome is ,No more meds, she can go out and not be refused to use a restroom, like she has been only to cause an accident. My dad died of colon cancer so she had possibe double trouble,I will keep reading ,and can only hope that everyone finds relief for this illness,my daughter has posted a couple times and Marks J-pouch story was invaluable. We will be watching will try to help if we can.She will be coming home Sunday hopefully.
