Hi Catherine,
I am sorry sorry about your experience Asacol. I thought I had it bad. I have Ulcerative colitis and I am allergic to Asacol.
It makes my muscles conrtact and I have cramps some times I can't walk.
The Asacol works good for me except for the cramps. I take Baclofen(a muscle relaxer) to help with the cramping.
It took years of going to many doctors to find out what was the cause of my symptoms.
The doctors were confused. My GI put me on prednisone for a long time and that gave me Osteoporosis too.
I have been off the Prednisone for years now. But what can I do for the UC? The reaction to Asacol seems to be getting worse as time goes by.
I can't even eat if I don't take the Asacol.
I was also being treated for cronic pain for years only to find out that Lipitor(for cholesterol) was causing the pain.
They were giving me Fentanyl patch for the pain.
So I had to quit the Lipitor too. (I'm off the Fentanyl!) I have to use natural supplements to reduce my cholesterol.
My cholesterol was at 390 and now it is at 190. I take Flaxseed Oil, Cholest Off(a fiber that don't give you cramps), and Niacin(FLUSH FREE!)
The Doctors are not much help. I had to figure it out for my self! Infact the doctors have made more problems by giving me meds that were bad for me.
I recently learned that I am also allergic to pepper.(also gives me cramps)
