Acne?

Anyone else dealing with acne?  I get these little red bumps on my forehead that I know have to be med-related.  I am thinking they are from the Pentasa, but not too sure.  If anyone else gets "bumpy", what kind of skincare do you use, and does it help?  Currently I am using Proactive and it is pretty useless. 

 

I used to get that and Head and Shoulders shampoo keeps it down to a minimum. I also am prone to cysts that pop up and disappear on their own. They tend to strike me around the eye brow area and along my hairline. Usually they resolve themselves. I also get these weird white or red zit things on my shoulders and chest. I have tried many things but I finally had to go to the doc for Clindamycin and Retin A. I know the ones I get on my shoulder are med related because they started after I began 6mp.

Comedy, I don't know.

But whatever I had didn't seem to respond to any of the standard zit creams (ie proactive), or for that matter, to washing my face. I used to get it a lot around the area where I shaved, around the eyebrows, between them, and later, smaller bumps on my forehead, as well as large painful ones on my scalp.

I went to a dermatologist and he prescribed differin and duac - i tried the differin for a few days and got really large cysts on my cheek, so i stopped following his advice. (He didn't bother to culture anything). He told me to use neutrogena T-gel shampoo, i guess it has coal tar in it. Well, that did seem to help the scalp thing out - but it didn't seem to prevent anything.

The head and shoulders shampoo has worked quite well - I do have to admit just recently I got a couple of these darned things on my face again - but at least it's somewhat under control now. My uneducated guess is that I have some kind of fungal folliculitis. I wish I knew more, as I have other skin problems elsewhere and would also like to apply the knowledge of what is going on to my UC if that's possible. I never had anything like this before UC, so obviously different from run of the mill zits.

If anyone reads this thread and has ideas about why head and shoulders would work, or alternative formulations better for skin vs hair, please chime in.

My daughters skin has been a mess. We have been off of the Pred. for 2 weeks, and it is SLOWLY looking better. During the Pred. we were at the derm every 2 weeks for either a Glycolic acid peel, or a microderm abrasion session. They have done actual extractions and had her try many topical ointments. The last one is Tazarac, and it's pretty good stuff. The steroid induced acne enlarges your pores, and the Tazarac shrinks them. Not fast enough, but it does dry them out. The oils gets trapped very easily, and the small hard bumps appear most anywhere.
She also is very light sensitive, and after a day with too much sun, had rash like bumps on her arms legs and feet. Could be most anything..
