I have had a half dozen colon-o-scopys. The last was was last Friday morning, 18 July. It was my first time using the milky colored anesthesia. The results were fine--mildly active UC, moderate diverticulosis, and no displaysia; though two polyps were removed. Late Friday afternoon I had my usual post-scope bloody liquid bowel movement and it was a bit more than usual, then again I did have the polyps removed (my first time) and the doc did take 40 biopsies. Sat, Sun, and Mon, I felt fine.
On Tuseday morning I woke up with a fever. It peaked at 101.2 while on Tylenol and Motrin (my normal temp is rarely over 98.0) and lasted until the evening. the fever completley went away late that evening. I had some very mild pain in my colon, but that isn't so abnormal for me. I also had some mild nausea. I felt completely fine the next day. The GI doc had be do a CBC which came back fine.
The fever was too short to be a typical virus. Everyone else ate the same things I ate those days so it wasn't likely food poisioning. A complication form a scope would normally show up sooner, and the doc didn't see and infected diverticular areas during the procedure.
Anybody else have this happen to them?
