Dear All,

I've a colonoscopy scheduled for Tues, 7/29. I'll have to start preparation tomorrow when I can't eat any solid food and nothing at all Tues until the procedure. How do I take my pills tomorrow? On tues?

Tomorrow shouldn't be a problem because you can take them with any clear liquid - water, apple juice, etc. If the scope is in the morning, I'd wait and take my meds afterward. Nothing you're on is time-critical, and probably even if you miss a dose of Asacol it won't cause you a problem. Skip the Rowasa after you start the prep, because it won't stay in long enough to do you any good. If you really need it, take it a couple of hours before you start the prep.

My GI told me it didn't matter if I took my Asacol the day I was prepping b/c the pills would not stay inside my GI tract long enough to do anything anyway...they would be cleared out quickly b/c of the prep. He actually said "You might as well save your money..." or something like that, since it would be just wasting medicine. I had taken some that morning and it actually hurt to poop them out, because the shells were really rough when they were coming out with pretty much just liquid and my bum was already sore from pooping so much because of the prep. Also, the pills are coated red and you're technically not supposed to consume anything red in color while you're prepping. Hope the scope goes well.

dont forget vaseline for you bumhole.... i HATE colonscopy preps... the worst!
