loose BM and horrible smell

When I have a very bad flair my flatulence smells very sulphur like

teacher....what meds are you on at this time? enemas nightly? Still the 9 asacol daily?

Are you still taking the Flora-Q?

If you've been on all the meds and still have the smell...it could be what you ate or you might have something else going on...If you've not been on the meds and just have that smell...you're most definitely flaring.

Yep, there's nothing like that good old barn smell...

You could double up the probiotic if you're not taking a full dosage...as well, add a fibre supplement and of course the meds.

If it's totally out of the norm (flare) for you, maybe it's time to have stool samples done.

Hi..the stool test would determine if you have any bad "bugaboos".

Considering you're on the meds and have increased symptoms, it could be something that you picked up.

I get horrific gassssss from oatmeal and salmon believe it or not.

Do you have gas all day or after a certain time? I find that I get gas about 6 hours after eating something that causes it for me..almost right on time in specific areas of my gut.

I think you should call the doc and say you want a stool sample kit and get that sent in to make sure you're not dealing with something else.
Considering school is just around the corner....meaning more stress.

omg... quincy... oatmeal makes you gassy?
i have been so gassy the last few weeks and its so darn painful.
i had no idea it could be the oatmeal.
ive been eating oatmeal almost every morning and i didnt put 2 and 2 together.

hmm... good to know.
too bad, cuz i like my oatmeal and its so easy to make and then eat.
i really dont feel like standing in the kitchen and making breakfast. bummer.

and funny thing... i guess my toilet escapades are quite smelly as well, but i wouldnt have noticed. i just sit there and read or play sudoku and my hubby walks by and about hits the floor. he always asks what kind of animal died in my gut to make that horrific stench. i was always like "what you talkin 'bout? i dont smell nothin!" hehe

I hear you about the horrible smell of bms. Mine are not loose though. But yesterday I had to go four times as I was only doing small amounts every time. But it was solid. And very gassy. I didn't eat but one meal all day yesterday other than a half of bowl of cereal for breakfast.

I go through this for about 3 days when it occurs and then things get back to normal. And my gas has been feeling totally different at night, now it feels like this horrible pins and needles sensation in my left side and into the rectal area. And I got up this morning with it feeling this way, and my left side at that area feels really tight.

I have mentioned the tight feeling in my side to him before and he says that is not colon related. And it feels like stinging sensations also. Does anyone else experience this???

The odor u smell is most likely putrescine and/or hydrogen sulfide. It it often both are chemical byproducts of anaerobic bacteria (not the good ones) and are somewhat irritating to the lining of the colon. I get "the gas" during onset and offset of flares and whew, they are room clearers! "Come on exhaust fan don't fail me now!" Has been a common chant during flares. If I forget the exhaust fan it creeps into the house and my wife assaults me playfully with a well choreographed air freshner ballet. I'm glad she's so cool about my condition! A good way to clear up gas is to keep a log of your eating habits and avoid the foods that give you gas. As far as the odor, Chlorophyll tabs in the form of shattered cell wall chlorella helps. If you have a juicer juice anything that is green, spinach is the best to help control odor just make sure it doesn't give you more gas. I take chlorophyll in the fall during hunting season to help mask my body scent when in the woods. Hope it helps.
