A disaster at hospital on Friday for Remi Infusion

The hospital had the wrong orders from my doctor (who couldn't be reached).  We were there for 6 hours waiting - then they wanted to admit me, put a pic line in - unbelievable.  I got in my wheelchair and left.  Now tomorrow I am going to the infusion center, the right place where I have had it 10 times before.  all this because the nurse mentioned I was in a wheel chair and may need a bedpan.  Evidently they have a problem with bedpans in that setting - they have beds so I am confused as to why?

That's outrageous! 6 hours of waiting: they owe you an apology bigtime!!!!! Unbelievable what the health care bureaucracy does to patients with multiple physical problems--  Actually, I had been thinking of you because your last post mentioned the likelihood of Remicade resumption on Aug. 8. Hope all goes well tomorrow! / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

Yes Bob, I agree...they should be able to wheel you into the bathroom. Many do that at my center with no problem at all. THe bathroom is even outfitted with a toilet for folks in a wheelchair. Good luck tomorrow.

ok, lets see they made you wait 6 hours b/c you had a wheelchair so they could admit you and I bet the infusion would have taken less than 6 hours! That makes no sense at all! GRRRR!

just like the time the state of MA sent a bill for 3 cents using 24 cents to mail the letter. My husband wrote the check 3 cents short for his excise tax one year.  (only mean to say the bureaucracy of it all!)

That is ridiculous! I agree with Marty. You deserve better.
