Hi, My son just had a colonoscopy and he was happy to see that his colitis is now in just the left side, and rectum.
He used to have it throughout the whole large intestine.
He is taking 6 Asacol a day and 150 mgs of 6MP and doctor had him do a enzyme test to see if he can tolerate more. How high a dose of this can be taken? He is hoping that a higher dose may help heal it better. I don't want him to over due that drug and have it have horrible side affects. I asked him if the cortison enemas could help the left side. Anyone in here do this?
My husband had colitis 40 years, and now is in remission for 8 years. His doc said his colon looks like he never had colitis, but he stays on a 6 Asacol, and 1 6 MP pill each day to maintain remission. I guess there is hope.
