Ok, thisis a new one to me and I am looking for advice.  After increasing my fiber intake slowly, the newest symptoms are clotted bloody mucus, no extra fluid, and somewhat constipated.  An increase it seems in just rectal blood, but no D, and formed stools when they come out.  This is maddening.  I never thought I would be sitting her waiting to go to the bathroom..lol.....Is the blood not really increased but looks more since there is no fluid?  I have no cramping and no real stomach sounds....very little gas as well?  No pain or urgency either?  Anyone choose to comment on this one? Oh by the way...one day the blood is thick and clotted, and yesterday there was hardly any at all?  I am obviously very frustrated.  I have been using proctofoam nightly for the past week.  Could this be having an adverse effect?

Landcruiser, my guess would be that you need to increase your fluid intake. Increasing fiber without increasing the fluid intake can lead to constipation as the stool turns into a big, bulky mass in the colon. Hard stool, prolonged sitting on the toilet and straining all can cause hemorrhoid problems, which can cause bleeding. Try increasing your intake of non-caffeinated fluids by 30 - 50%; that should help.

Hey landcruiser, your symptoms sound a lot like mine when I'm in remission. I'm not in remission right now though. I take fiber as well, and although it helps to keep the stool formed, it hurts like heck on its way out! I can either have a couple extremely painful bms a day, or several only slightly painful bms based on my fiber supplement intake. Aside from the blood, it sounds like your doing okay though. No gas pains, cramping, urgency? Have you a history of hemmies? Take Judy's advice and drink more water and see if that helps. Good luck.

you know the funny thing is I drank a ton of water yesterday and peed like crazy.....so I thought it would be great this morning......I do feel good, but the blood is freaking me out...can you bleed that much from hemmies?  I did have a sig two weeks ago and the doc told me I was 90% healed and that I needed to up my fiber cause of numerous internal hemmies?  Its quite a bit of blood in the morning, and some mucus first..pink stuff...then formed movements and no blood during the day...only a mucus bomb once in a while?  any mor thoughts?

Landcruiser, you can bleed a lot from hemmies, actually. I remember my mother once had one start up and she had blood running down her leg.

I used to work with people with motor problems such as cerebral palsy. Because they have general muscle tightness, their colons also tend to be spastic. They often have terrible problems with constipation, and the two culprits are not enough fiber and not enough water. Keep up the increased fluids, and you might want to try an OTC for the hemmies: Preparation H or the like. The hemmies are probably seeping overnight, and when you go in the morning you expel all the blood that has pooled in your rectum overnight. It will take them some time to heal.
