Can I get some advice on this pain ?

I would definitely call your doc's office and get some advice, especially since you've had it several times this week and it's been that severe. I'd say sometimes gas acts that way, but hey, your doc may be able to relieve some of that pain. Take care, and let us know how you are doing.

so you think its food? It was about 5 hours after I ate the chicken that it happened. Is that about right?

5 hours could be right, it depends on how fast your body digests things... i know when i had my pillcam done they determined it takes me about 2 hours to digest my meals, which is fast, but it does fall right into place when i eat something that will bother me...

Peanut butter always worked well for me. Don't know if you have a Trader Joe's close by but they have a lot of different fruit sauces to choose from. I love the Mango or Peach! Also, if you can tolerate soy there are a lot of yogurts, puddings etc. that are really good. Also soy cheese for mac and cheese; I think Amy's has some good soy frozen soy mac and cheese. Just some thoughts.

It sounds like you might have something else going on.
Asacol is designed to not even dissolve until it reaches your colon, so I don't think it would upset your stomach. Maybe you are sensitive or even allergic to some food that you would think would be easy on your gut. Personally, I don't do well with tomatoes, but just a couple cherry tomatoes would not bother me! I think it's something else, or just that you are so inflamed that when eating (even a taste) stimulates your bowels, it causes that kind of distress.
So sorry you are suffering, that kind of bloat feels just awful!

I wonder of I accidentally took my 2nd and 3rd dose of asocol to close together on these days? Would that do it ? taking 2 pills and 2 more a couple hours later?

  Ok ...I went to the gastro again today. He feels like the pain is something else not the Uc. He did a bunch of blood work and ordered an ultrasound for tommorow morning.  It kindof wierd all this would happen at the same time.  Do you think there a link with Uc and gallbadder ? or hes also looking at liver . 

Yes, gallbladder issues can arise with having Uc especially gallstones.

I'd put money on gallstones.  Your symptoms sound exactly like mine and I just had my gallbladder taken out last week.  I had horrible bloating pain in my upper abdomen (left side and center) that was much worse at night.  Then the day after I was admitted to the hospital, my symptoms went away.  This is typical with a gallbladder attack.  You feel awful for a while, then it goes away.  Definitely get yourself checked for gallstones by an ultrasound.

It wasn't too bad. I had pain for about 5 days afterwards, so I was taking a good amount of Hydrocodone. The first couple nights of sleeping at home are difficult, because laying flat is not comfortable. The one thing they did not tell me was that I would be LOADED with fluids and bloated from the gas. (Apparently when they do the laparoscopy, they shoot some gas into your abdomen to puff it out so that they can see/work in there.) I was about 10 pounds heavier when I came home, but all the fluid and bloating has gone away, and I'm back to my pre-surgery weight. You'll probably get up 3-4 times in the night to pee (to get rid of all that fluid). My feet were swollen in the beginning from the fluids, but that went away, too. The incisions are small, so they use a glue instead of stiches.

As for returning to work, I would say it depends on what you do. I'm a stay-at-home mom of a two-year-old, so I needed help for 3-4 days because of the lifting, running around. You will be tired, and the painkillers will make you drowsy. There is definitely soreness for about a week, but if you have a desk job it may be tolerable.

With all that said, I've read that people respond to this surgery very differently. Some people feel great right away, but a friend of mine told me she was out of commission for a couple weeks. The surgery recovery can be hard to plan for because of this. I've also heard from several people that having the gallbladder removed improved they're overall health dramatically. A friend of mine with IBS said her symptoms all but disappeared after surgery. My doctor did tell me that my ulcerative colitis would not be affected/improved by the removal, but some of us with UC may also have IBS or other underlying issues that may get resolved, so who's to say?

Hope I'm not boring you with details, and I hope you get these issues resolved soon. I know how hellish the hospital can be. They didn't let me eat anything but clear liquids for three days, and it felt like absolute torture. Good luck with everything, and let us know what happens!
