Pretty Bad Set Back

I had to leave work early today and go to Urgicare. My iron count dropped to 9.3. I thought it was low, because I've had blood and D for days. I felt very light headed and dizzy today. The Urgicare Dr spoke to my GI Dr and told me to get in and see him tomorrow morning. Told me not to go to work until I see my GI doc. He thinks prednisone or 6mps are in my future. He really scared me when he said I could need a tranfusion if I didnt get my flare under control. They also did a stool sample for C-Diff, parasites and something else...I forget. My husband is out of town and I'm here alone w/my 3 kids!!

Have you started taking iron? It will not only bring up your iron count but also it will probably firm up your stool. I was just in the hospital and my hemoglobin dropped to 7.6. I was almost in need of a transfusion. I started taking iron tablets (325 mg ferrous sulfate) 3 times a day and my hemoglobin has gone up and I haven't seen any blood in my stool (which is now occasionally formed - although its black from the iron).
