I had been considering all sorts of treatments and even surgery.
The new doctor, who my GI who saved me from bad doctors originally - had recommended, told me surgery is crazy for me. He mentioned how lots of doctors ignore the overlap of IBS and UC. He put me on a higher dose of asacol (4, 3 times a day) and rowasa and canasa every other day (I tried canasa over the summer but it wasn't enough and this is my first try with rowasa), and brand name Konsyl (fiber supplement) which you have to request at the pharmacy for bulking. I have had maybe 3 bms the since sat morning. I think I might have started to go into remission even though i am tapering ( went down to 25 mg on sat.). I feel different, still a little cramping but urgency has disappeared. I'm in shock almost that almost 4 years of thinking about
using the bathroom all the time could be fading. I'm really happy and relieved but don't want to get my hopes up. Just figured I would share my experiences as so many people have. Knock on wood for me.

Wow, you have been through a lot and for a LONG time. I really hope you're headed toward remission. Four years is a very long time to suffer. I'm knocking on wood for you.

I have now annoyed the neighbours by knocking on wood so much for you. Glad you've had some relief at long last - long may it last!! Three cheers for your new doc as well.

I hope that you've found the formula to keep you good for a while. It'll be quite an adjustment to to be able to think less about
the bathroom, and more about
you can do because you're not chained to the toilet.
