A week on and still bleeding!

I've been on the pred for a week now, and i can still blood in my stools, i'm not sure whether to go a few more days on the 40mg ormake the drop to 30mg on saturday!

Im worried the meds are not working, i've bn stuck indoors and sufferring all week!I'm fed up, frustrated and want to a release!

How long after taking the meds do you start seeing a improvement?

Just hang in there and be patient. During my last flare I had to pair the pred with hydrocort enemas and it took several weeks to just get bleeding to subside.

Mia, call up your doctor. If you are still having a lot of symptoms, it wouldn't be wise to make the taper. I'm so sorry that you are feeling rotten :(

Yeah, probably not a good idea to taper. Im still in a flare (for the past 7 weeks). I didnt stop bleeding till about a week ago.

I'm probably going to have to stay at 40mg a lil longer, the pred are just not as potent as they used to be in my system!

Maybe you should ask him about rectal meds?

I stop bleeding for a few days, and then start again.... it's so frustrating.

     I agree with pb.  I would ask about rectal meds.  I've been on prednisone now for the better part of six months.    Doctor just increased my 6MP to 75 mgm.  Prednisone seems to stop the bleeding after only a few days on it.  I am now tapered down to 20 mgm.  I also do the cort enemas alternately with Canasa.  Good luck.
