asacol and no insurance

I will be turning 25 yrs old later this month and I just found out that I will be dropped from my dad's insurance on 12/31/08. I graduated in May and I am still looking for a job. I'm doing temp work now and so I have no insurance right now. Does anyone know where I can get generic meds or asacol for a cheap price or if asacol is eligible for walgreens or cvs prescription savings clubs?

I don't believe that Asacol has a generic form yet but if you can't afford the Asacol, there are other med options to try. The cheapest being Sulfasalazine - but if you're allergic to sulfa this is not an option. Another is Colazal - it now has a generic form called Basalazide. I am not sure how much it is to be honest but I know it's cheaper then the brand name. You can also try calling your doc to see if they have samples. depending on your income, you can probably get it free from the company. they have assistant programs for people that can not afford there meds. I have the number for Illinois but not sure if it will work for other states. you can contact your pharmacy they would have the company number.

You can COBRA your dad's insurance but that may be expensive. Lets hope you find a good job with insurance by then! You have some time! What was your major?

Asacol can be got from PG's patient assistance program for free. Colazal could too, when I was in school at least. While I was in my fun 8 years of schooling I got on patient assistance since I had no insurance. It's really easy to do and you will get a 3 months supply at a time. Some will ship to Dr's office and some ship straight to you.
