Had an "accident" on the way to work this morning.

I haven't been diagnosed with UC or Crohn's, but I am starting to wonder.

I've had bowel issues most of my life....urgency, diarrhea, gas, pain, lactose intolerance, etc.  The gastro diagnosed me with IBS years ago and I was comfortable with that diagnoses based on my symptoms.

about three months ago though, the diarrhea was really out of hand. It lasted for about 2 months straight and it was all liquid the entire time. That is not normal for me. I went and saw my family doc and they did a stool sample and the only thing showing was some white blood cells.

My diarrhea went away for the most part for the last month (was taking Amitriptylene), but I have had a couple of diarrhea episodes in between days of feeling uncomfortable/constipated. about a week ago my stools were a different color on one side tan the other. It looked like a dark maroon color. I thought it might be blood that had sat there for a whiule during my constipation. Who knows what it really was. It may have been something I ate.

Than this morning, I had one solid(ish) bowel movement before I left...then on my way in...I got hit with major urgency. I managed to make it just about to the toilet before it started to let go. I managed to contain in in my underpants (which I keep a spare pair).

I also noticed some "fresh" blood on it this time. 

I am pretty embarrased, even though no one else knew. It just feels wrong to be cleaning myself up like that in the gas station bathroom.

I see my gastro doc on 11/25. Hopefully he will do a scope and check for UC this time.

Hi Krismark, and welcome to HealingWell. It's tough not having a firm diagnosis so it's good you are going in to a gasto doc to get a check. I remember when I first went to the GI, they ordered up all sorts of tests for me and then did a sigmoidoscopy to reach the diagnosis of UC. Remember when you see the doc that you are in charge of your body; better yet get as educated as you can and write down questions and your symptoms so you have that in front of you to help talk to the doc about. I'm sorry about your accident but glad you had a "spare" with you. Hey, that's happened to many of us...yep, me included! It is the pits, but it happens so it's good that you were prepared. BTW, are you on any meds at this time? Take care, and keep us updated on what the doc says. 

There was no blood when I was diagnosed w/IBS...at least none that I ever noticed.

I have tried cutting out dairy which helps...but I have lots of lapses where I just eat it anyway. I love ice cream!

The doctor had put me on Amitriptylene, but it was starting to make me constipated, which to me is not worth it. I would rather have to run to the bathroom than deal with the pain of constipation (which for me is no bowel movement for at 1 day or more).

I once had to use my purse as a toilet (while in my car), because there was no where to pull off and go in the woods.

Now I keep a gallon Ziploc bag with toilet paper in my glove box in case I am driving through a metropolitan area and I just HAVE to go. The I can just pull off the road and go in my car without anyone really seeing me.

That, of course, is a last resort option...and I haven't had to use it yet.
