I would think that people who are more prone to certain things will have a better likelihood of getting them if the conditions are "ripe".

Imodium isn't something that should be used on a continual basis...if the issue is with UC, then it would be best to use meds that can help get the inflammation under control.

If it isn't UC and is IBS, then it could be helped with a variety of antispasmodics, medications (remember that IBS can be constipation or diarrhea), food intake, fibre supplements..etc.

Sometimes we aren't aware there's something going on until we do/take something that can bring it to light.

i would suggest those with enquiring minds or fears about TMC to do the research on it.

There are risks with all meds, but it's not a "for sure" we'll get all the possible side effects or have anything in which it would be contraindicated.

i tried immodium once on my flight from australia to Los angeles and it was horrible horrible horrible.
i was all cramped up and had to use the toilet, but the immodium prevented anything from happening, so the poos were sitting in my colon, hurting me and i couldnt do anything.
i will never ever take it again.

Had my 1st colonoscopy today and my GI is now adding Immodium into my meds.
He is having me take 1 each evening before bed
He feels that it is safe and effective in treating my colitis

You know as a side note - I used IModium on vacation in Vegas and the rectal foam only 3 times that week.  Came home, stopped the Imodium, continued foam every other night (as NP told me to) because bleeding stopped while on vacation.  Now mucous and bleeding a tiny bit.  Wondering if Imodium helped me stop bleeding - I only take 1/2 when I go out or have bad cramping - maybe I will ask my doctor about taking it regular too.
