Anyone, have it in the lower part of the bowels??

 I do, rectal area and left sided colitis. I first was diagnosed back in 1986. I was put on Azulfidine pills and Rowasa enemas. Periodically I have flareups and have to go back to the doctor. I am pretty much in remission and my flares are not that often although this time I have had two now in a couple of months. I was changed from the Azulfidine to Asacol 400mg several years ago and take 3- 2X a day. I am experiencing unfortunately some on and off urgency issues with rectal bleeding as we speak.

In the past I have also used the Canasa 1000mg suppositories. They were ineffective in my past flare however. Did not reach where the inflammation was. This flare has me totally stressed out as did the other recently. But this one is more so. I am sure I am going to have to call the doctor back again as I cannot even make it to the bathroom. But unfortunately they won't just call me in the Rowasa enemas most times and require me to come back in even though I was just in there 3 weeks ago, and many of the pharmacies do not stock the enemas all the time and have to order them.

This disease is not pleasant and it can elevate your stress levels so be glad you don't have many problems right now.

     My UC is located in the rectum.  In remission for two weeks now ..yippeee...after a seven month flare.  I believe my GI doctor increasing the prednisone to 40 mgm to jump start my treatment did the trick this time.  He usually only starts with 30 mgm.  Of course I was only on the 40 mgm for one week then tapered.  I was on Cort enemas along with Canasa suppositories too.  Increased my 6MP to 75 mgm and Colazal (now down to six per day).  Hang in there, you'll get better.

i was diagnosed with lower bowel us. I am taking asocol. i didnt take it the way i should have and started eating lettuce which gives me flare ups and have been bleeding for almost a year. i am now on prednisone which is horrible. take my advice take your meds we are lucky compare to some of the post i have been reading.
