Hey there.
I am new to this forurm and motivated to join by going through my first pregnancy with a diagnoses of left-sided UC. I had a question about the level of mesalamine (asacol and rowasa enemas) others have had to take during pregnancy. I was lucky to have been in remission when I got pregnant and to have stayed that way up until about a month ago at approx. 28 weeks pregnant (usual fall flare!!). While I was in remission I was on a maintenance dose of asacol. However, as a result of the flare my doctors have put me up to 3, 400mg asacol 3 times a day (9 per day total) plus a 4gram rowasa enema at night. So far the increase has not had a large impact on my flare and I feel I may have to try a steriod enema soon. Anyhow, all my docs have said that this level of mesalamine will be ok for the baby but my question to others is, have you taken this much mesalamine during pregnancy? Was everything OK?
Thanks
