I started my new school Monday and my dorm is right across the hall from bathroom. Its really nice having the bathroom so close but...there is a lock on the door and you have to punch in a code to get in!!!! How inconvenient is that!? I've been having colon issues the last couple days (mostly likely due to IBS) and there have been a couple times where I need to go and can't get in the bathroom fast enough and I almost have an accident. Ugh I'm so frustrated! Just had to vent. It just really shows how the world isn't adapted to an IBD life!

Oh that would be difficult! I wonder if there is anyway around that - like a special card that would just unlock it.

The things places have to do to protect themselves from lawsuits...

Hopefully things will calm down soon and you won't have to worry!

Propping the door open would be unsafe and completely inconsiderate. Bathrooms are locked to protect the users. One of predator's favorite tricks is to ambush a woman in the bathroom.

If it's an electronic lock, perhaps they can provide you with a remote release - like a garage door opener control. That would speed things up for you without endangering you or anyone else.

That sucks Sam and I'm sorry to hear that, the irony of having the can right across from you but still an inconvience to get into it quickly eh...I imagine you'll learn to whip that code off in record time before too long.

I completely understand the reason for it, it just sucks. My last school didn't require a code for the bathrooms so I was a major surprise for me

I know the feeling....I can't wait to be done school. I think that IBD/Colitis really kills our youth....but there is always hope around the corner. A while back I posted a link about a team of researchers at a university that were able to grow a complete bladder from the remaining healthy cells of someone that had a diseased one. Who knows....maybe a colon is right around the corner. Best wishes...
