Colonoscopy Prep Question

Hi All,

I'm having my 2nd colonoscopy this Monday (3 months after my first) to see if any of the inflamation has gone away. When I had my first one done, I wasnt on any meds.

I now take Asacol 3 times a day (2 pills). Should I be taking the pills the day before the colonoscopy while I prep?

Yes, continue taking your medication on schedule until you begin the prep. After that, it will just be washed out so there's no point in taking it. After your scope, go back to taking them on the regular schedule.

I didn't take any medication the day of the procedure or while prepping, but I did take it when I got home. You're not supposed to have anything by mouth the morning of a scope, except for maybe a "sip" of water and I don't know about you but it takes me a lot more than a sip to get those horse pills down. Besides, like Judy said, it's all going to come right back out anyway so you might as well just wait.
