There are a lot of home-based writing jobs that were posted on journalismjobs.com lately. Most seem to be blogging jobs or writing jobs for about.com or similar Web sites. I don't know how much they pay or much about them. Or you could try to do some freelance stuff if you want to write. I think I'm pretty much the opposite of you -- I wish I could stay home all day (or at least half of every day). I would read, watch movies and bad daytime TV, go for long hikes every day and love every minute of it. =) Unfortunately, that's not an option for me.

Kops2da - A couple of those locations are somewhat close to me, so I may be in touch about that job opportunity. It sounds like something that would suit me perfectly!

Unclebubba - I have to give the cookbook idea some thought. That's a huge undertaking, and I want to give it my full consideration before committing to anything. That's for your interest, and I'll be in touch!! :-)

Again, thanks to all of you. I'm actually going to copy and paste all of your suggestions in to a Word document so I don't lose them. I really appreciate all your thoughtful advice and words of encouragement!

Katie - I wrote my daughter in law about you - of course, I don't know you really but don't be afraid to put down that you met me online on this forum.  Cindy is a very nice woman who has twin boys and girl - 7 and 9.  She understands daycare, etc.  ElaineNY

Really didn't read all the answers so might already be said. My thought is: This UC crap kindof bring one (at least me) in a search/quest for learning about health and alternative therapy etc. (might not be the right expression as I'm not native english speaking). Would it be possible to com bine things by educating yourself within ... whatever zonetherapy, naturopath, acupuncture or whatever you believe in - the making it your part time job from home?

Qvist - I've often thought about writing an article or something about my experience and recovery. Thank you for reminding me to do that - I think its a great idea.

I can't tell you how often I think of trying that. I even started one once, and I think I'd like to try it again.

Gosh, now I have so many ideas I don't know what to do first!

I wrote Cindy and told her you planned on applying.  She started this business with friends in Elmhurst where she lives but I know she is involved with all the locations.  I think the flexibility would work for you if they have some hours available and a great job for anyone who enjoys cooking and working with food, etc.  I just enjoy eating it too much!!

If you're looking for a source for legitimate freelance writing opportunities, as well as general information and interesting stories about the writing life, I'd recommend checking out http://writersweekly.com/

There are new, researched opportunities listed every week, and you can also get a weekly email bulletin from them. They are very anti-spam, so you won't get any crap from them. They also provide advocacy for writers who happen to get crossed by companies or clients that try to cheat them.
