Do spasms in the rectum mean there is inflammation? (no blood)

It can, but IBSers can also get rectal spasms and they don't have inflammation...you should see your doc, especially if this is a new symptom for you, he may be able to give you meds that help with it.

Rectal spasms would probably mean inflammation if they're continual.
What other symptoms are you having...and are the spasms during a bm, afterward, feeling that you need to have a bm...etc? Do you have mucus, urgency to go, and frequency?
What's the schedule for the Rowasa that you're on?
