problem with pregnancy

I have UC for 9 years. sometimes it gets sever and sometimes its normal
but after i get married, it get better with the medications
after my pregnancy i quit the medication because the doctor said that it may affect the fetus; he descriped for me pentasa enema but it's not so affected
after my delivery, i got wors and i couldnt take any medication because of breast feeding, so i stop the breast feeding to take the medication when my baby was only 3 months old.
I gust get better with the medications when my child reached 1 year, and i feel that i couldnt do much for her because of my illness!!
and now she is 1 year and 10 months and im thinking about having another baby, but im afraid that i have the same problems that i had before

when i read about the pentasa, i sow that its ok to take it in pregnancy but no breast feeding. And the salofalk cant take it in any of these periods.
when i asked the doctor for medication that may be safe in the both he said there is not!!
but when i read what women said in this forum some of them saied its ok!!

just wanted to share my story. i have just given birth to my son two weeks ago. he is in great health, gaining weight and doing very well. i was on asacol throughout my pregnancy - 1200mg 3x per day (asacol is mesalamine - the same as pentasa and i think the same as the salofalk although i am not sure on this) as well as on cortifoam enemas during the second half of my 2nd tri and my 3rd tri. i think you need to consult another doc and or a high risk obgyn because all of my docs (2 gis, 2 obgyns and a few high risk perionatals docs) have told me that the meds are just fine. Mesalamine is a b catagory drug for pregnancy as rated by the fda. you could also call the motherisk program in toronto canada (google 'motherisk') this is a program run by the hospital for sick children in toronto - they offer free counselling on drugs/meds etc during pregnancy and breastfeeding. good luck. jo

Hello, I took Salofalk (1500mg x 4/day) during my pregnancy and during 13 months of breast feeding. My daughter is perfectly healthy. She is two now. Sometimes the risk is greater--and if you're too sick during your pregnancy that is not good for the fetus. I also took Entocort (9mg) during pregnancy and breast feeding.

You may have read certain things that may or may not be true, but what is your doctor's opinion?
