Did Rowasa ever pull you out of a flare?

I had been tapering Prednisone and got down to alternating 10MG & 7.5MG and a

flare-up rocked my world.

I failed Imuran and was hoping for a miracle and a natural taper would keep me in

remission.

I did not want to up the Prednisone so we went with Rowasa. After about 4 sessions

I started seeing relief. After 13 I would say that I am almost 100%.

I will finish the last 7 and re-evaluate.

Just curious if anybody else had luck with Rowasa.

I have and I followed Heather's (above) advice a while back and it works well for me. I pretty much have these things in stock at all times (though they do expire).


With that said, I have UC only at the end of my descending colon-- so the meds go right to the problem.

Yes, it's not as fast-acting as the steroid retention enemas, but it got me out of a flare with 8-10 weeks of nightly use. That's with proctosigmoiditis. My best maintenance med to-date, though, is original Colazal-- because it prevents inflammation in my descending colon, where Rowasa has no effect. I agree with Quincy that you should not drop all med when you finally feel better. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])
