Naturopath?

There have been posts about naturopaths a few times.
Mine arranged for the food senstivity testing ($300) and knowing what I should not eat has been very helpful and I felt much better, closest to remission I have been in many, many years.

He also introduced me to probiotics, which I had tried now and then but never really understood. I'm sure they have helped. He also suggested some supplements that might have helped but I could never remember to take them since I rarely eat meals at home and I was supposed to take them before and after meals.

He had me do a thorough blood screen (chem-17?), but suggested I do it with my regular doctor so insurance would cover it, so I did. It revealed details of my anemia, and I got some B-12 shots ($30) from him to tackle that, in addition to Slo-FE.

He told me to do a rotation diet, with certain foods eaten together and not the same food but every four days. Maybe it worked, I've not been able to keep up with it... and now I'm not doing as well as I was when I did.

He also mentioned a cellular test but it was very expensive ($1200 discounted) so I decided to see how I do with everything else for a while.
His office visits were $75 I think.

So I think it was worth it, but I haven't been back for a while because I'm not sure what else he can offer, especially with my lifestyle. I probably spent $1000 total.

I spent like 550.00 CND and NO results, they did all this wierd stuff with some wierd machine, seemed like SO much mumbo jumbo. Then he gave me like 20 bottles of pills that were UBER expensive, none of it did jack. Thats my experience. I think if you buy into all that it might help you, but I was like this is nonsense as soon as I was in there, so maybe thats why I didn't have any succes.

I would add that the Naturopath gave me the best explanation of what was happening in my colon that I had ever heard (before I joined this message board), and why and how probiotics and some diet changes work. He made a lot of sense. Oh, and he had published several articles about digestive diseases, so I had confidence in him because of that.

The supplements he sold me were not any more expensive than good quality supplements you buy anywhere else. From what others have said, it makes sense to resist buying everything they try to sell you if you can't really afford it or the reasoning given for something is not very compelling. I can see how some of them could prey on people, but mine has a thriving business in this earthy college town.

Trying2Maintain - congrats on your pregnancy! I just had my second little girl 5 weeks ago. I'm glad you had a positive experience. I'm looking forward to what kind of tests I will get next week. I unfortunately am allergic to the 5ASA's. My GI wants me to start on 6mp after I'm done breastfeeding. The Naturopath I'm seeing also does acupuncture, I might try that as well.
I had an appt. with my GI this morning and told him I was going to see a Naturopath. He said he keeps an open mind about that kind of treatment and to run by any supplements by him first before I take them.
