Hello, this is my first post and im so glad i found this forum.
Iam turning 40 this year and have had UC since I was 26 years old. My father and my two sisters also have it. I have been in remission for almost 4 years, I stupidly stopped taking my one a day asacol stupidly thinking that i was cured?? I have just given up smoking, had a very stressful week at work and guess what?? you guessed, horrific wind, back ache, stomach ache and lots and lots of red blood.
What i am worried about is that iam not disabled to the house, iam (fingers crossed at this point) not running to the loo 30 times a day, however I have had loose bowels, but what iam worried about is that my bowels have not been right for at least six months, I never thought for a min about colitis, why would i get all the uc symptoms but not the loo bit?
Ive been reading about colon cancers, one of the signs is bright red blood and change in bowel.
I have not seen a consultant for over 4 years, or even a doctor at my practice come to think about it. (i got a prescription for colifoam without the doctor seeing me the other day so currently using this)
Can anyone help please?
many thanks
