ZLSJ - regarding your symptoms...

Reading through your posts to quincy, etc. this morning - sounds so much like when I had gall bladder attacks - that was before UC although I have IBS for years.  Under your shoulder blade (right side) going to back - usually after eating fatty food but can happen anytime - I got it mostly at night.  Indigestion is common and stomach pains right side up under ribs.  I had a ct scan and some other tests - they found stones and a BAD gall bladder.  I had it removed laproscopic surgery and home next day.  It was great. 

Hope you find what your problem is - just wanted you know my experience - and the backache was the WORST!!

Mine is more on my left side.

Can't really say that anything triggers it and it is not agonizing pain. (yet) I don't feel different after eating.

It doesn't necessarily relate to any stomach pains I've been having. i.e. feeling the pain in the same general area front and back. Stomach issues seem to be lower around belly button, the back area is just right of my left shoulder blade.
