Hi all,

Am having alot of trouble with stomach with the last few days. Have alot of swelling (bloating) in upper stomach. In the last few hours my whole stomach especially the upper stomach has swollen alot more, it feels like it is about to burst. Can't be a blockage as I am having BM solid 8 already today. I have also noticed very loud gurgling sounds in upper stomach under rib cage. Also alot of pain down left side. Does anyone else have these symptoms? Should I see my GP or does anyone out there know anything I can do to ease the symptoms?

Ugh, I think we all get this now and then, and so do "healthy" people. It's very uncomfortable! Have you tried gas-x? It really can work. Some have suggested trying rolling around on the floor. Really!

When I was young I went to the ER once for it, I was bent over in pain, and all they did was watch me until it subsided on its own. So I don't recommend going to the ER (well, ever).

But go ahead and try to get into your doc, even your family doc, maybe they can help.

I would probably at least call your doc. UC-ers *can* develop toxic megacolon. It's really rare, in my understanding, but a symptom of it is sudden severe bloating. I don't know much about it other than that and I'm sorry if I'm scaring you!

Sounds like gas to me.  I get it all the time.  Try laying on your left side in fetal position with a heating pad pressed against your left side.  It should eventually subside.

Ugh, it does sound like gas. I get horrendous gas especially if I drink something with artificial sweetner in it. The other day I put something in my water (an energy powder) and didn't think it had any sweetener in it...boy was I wrong! I had explosive gas and very noisy gurgling....people could hear it in the next cube. Hope you are feeling better soon.
