Can someone describe a flare-up?

I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitus but I've only ever gotten constipated I've never had diarrhea. I am just wondering if maybe I was miss diagnosed because it doesn't seem that many people get constipation. I also take adderall which can cause stomach distention. During my flare-ups I get hot and feverish sometimes with a bit of a temp, my muscle are achy and sore, and my mouth and tongue get a tingling or numbing sensation and it kinda feels like there is a sort of hotness to my breath. These are my symptoms and what I would call a flare up.

Could you guys post what your flare-ups are like and how often you get them.

Hi!

When flared my symptoms fluctuate between diarrhoea and constipation, usually constipation like you. I also have some abdominal pain, pain when passing stool, very tired all the time, and also pass blood and mucous.

I get constipated for a while first, then I get massive diarrhea with blood and mucous, very painful abdominal cramps, urgency, tenesmus (feeling like you have to go, but then not being able to/not having to), and extreme fatigue. I sometimes get joint pain, especially in my knees. I've been in a flare to some degree since diagnosis in March of 2007...wow, can't believe it's been two years already...

and urgency.....usually manageable if i am willing to be in pain which does spare me the accidents that others have reported. i never have been constipated during a flare - it sounds like it may be kinda nice but i am sure that is my own ignorance speaking.

Constipation for a day or so, and then some formed BM's with urgency, slight blood, and mucous before the D strikes in full glory with increased urgency, slight blood and mucous. On the really bad days I've done about 20-30 trips a day to the toilet and have difficulty holding it for more than 20 seconds.

all problems start with constipation....then comes mucus...then the blood...then the pain while passing stools, then swollen whole day!! Oh! forgot GAS - it is there right from beginning of constipation. burbs!! YUCK! YUCK! YUCK! Constipation becomes o.k...but blood mucus continue along with gas!

Constipation, mucus, then D with blood. Lots and lots and lots of abdominal pain, joint pain in hands, toes, sternum, light headedness, a lot of fatigue.

Fever is a common symptom, even though I haven't had that.

Nothing good that's for sure. Basicly I'm unable to do anything I want. Diarrhea, blood, mucous, lots of pain with urgency, fever, headache, dizzy, nausea, etc. The gas comes and when it reaches the colon it distends my stomach and that hurts too.
