Urniating all the time?

I've had this for longer than I've been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. I have to go to the bathroom every 7-10 minutes and there's frequent incomplete emptying. It can burn and is very annoying. I asked my GI doctor about this assuming people with UC have this sort of problem and he said that its not related. I know it gets better when I'm constipated as much. Anybody have this too?? It's annoying the hell out of me and I've had it for several years now!!!

You know for years I have not a "leaky" bladder and frequency.  Nothing I could not live with but took tests for infection, tried the bladder medications, etc.  Now after being diagnosed with UC I do believe that they are related.  My "diagnosis" is that the inflammed colon and rectum (in my case) swollen and pressing on the bladder so it seems to be more full than normal.  When it gets near morning and my colon is "full" so is my frequency of urination.  After BMs bladder is quieter.  Now that I am taking prednisone - leaking is there (I am 68) but frequency is a lot less.  Just what happening to me!  I have not pursued this with urologist but may in the future.

Need more history and meds to even start to make any assumption on cause.

Have you ever been to a urologist? Ever have a urine test to rule out infection? No this shouldn't be related to Uc especially if you have had it before being diagnosed. The problem that most people have is that when something goes wrong, they automatically assume it's a complication from Uc.

Sounds like a urinary tract infection to me. If you pee in a cup you can actually see stuff floating in it. I think those are white blood cells. When I have a bad UTI it looks snow flakes or skin floating in the urine. I had an undiagnosed UTI for a long time before I developed UC, in fact I think that's what triggered my UC. Now I'm having trouble getting rid of it completely because I had it so long. I saw a urologist recently that said their is another disease that has symptoms like a UTI, but that it doesn't respond to antibiotics. I assume it is related to immune system. But their are medications to deal with it. Anyway, a UTI is quick and easy to diagnose by an MD you typically have to wait some time to see a urologist. If I were you I would get tested and see if antibiotics work.

Incomplete emptying of the bladder can result in UTI. But a UTI feels like incomplete emptying even if that is not a problem. Generally, if you don't respond to antibiotics they look for problems of the bladder emptying and kidney stones.

You should see a doctor ASAP. While incontinence may be exacerbated or even caused by an inflamed colon, a urinary track infection can spread to the kidneys if not stopped in time.

I take cranberry supplements to help prevent bladder infections. But once I get them, there really is no choice but to take antibiotics.

I had this problem a few weeks ago when I was in hospital, and it continued once I came out but is near enough back to normal now. Turns out something went wrong with my kidney while I was in hospital but it seemed to have sorted itself out once I came out.

Also I think being on Prednisolone made me reaaaally thirsty and that obviously then made me want to wee alot!

Is the left side of the area under your man jewels kind of sore? There is a possibility of it being prostratitus if you are sore there, or it could be just the inflamed colon pressing up against your prostrate causing it to do that. Your lower colon presses right up against your prostrate gland.
