I've been told many years ago that there is a relationship between acne and the colon.
Here's a link to an article that talks about
it:

How many of you have had issues with acne in addition to having UC?

Ugh, yes. My skin used to be so great pre-UC.
What do you all use for your acne? I have really sensitive skin so I can't use anything with benzyl peroxide. Even products for sensitive skin and/or with salicylic acid irritate my skin. I'm afraid to use what the dermatologist prescribed since it's an antibiotic!

I found that the most important thing in treating acne is to wash things like clothes, towels, sheets, and pillow cases frequently.
Keep the skin dry and cool.
Don't touch the area.
Don't eat foods that give you acne--for me, that's nuts. I haven't been able to eat peanut butter since I was 12.
Sad to say, but the only medicine that worked for me when I had skin infections and boils was antibiotics. I was never given corticosteroid injections. I was living overseas when my acne was at its worst. I have used Retin-A. It helped substantially with reducing the scaring.
Now that I'm older, I use just benzoyl peroxide. I should probably use retin-A again. I do still have some minor scaring that I would like to get rid of.

I've never had a problem with acne, other than a stray zit every now and then, and an occasional "period pimple." That's what I call the big, really painful zits I get the week before my period that never really form a head. I get them maybe 3 times a year.
