hello Worrywartnana, there's not really a formal 'dose' with slippery elm. It's not recoginised as a 'medicine' here in the Uk, but sold in health food stores. It's a powder. I use 2 heaped teaspoons in a cup of milk. You have to mix it up like custard powder with a little milk first, then add the rest. You can use a suacepan or a microwave. You have to stir it a lot. It can get very lumpy. Eat the lumpy bits, don't throw them away. You can sweeten it with honey or maple syrup. I use low calorie sweeteners. It has no taste of it's own otherwise. A mugfull with milk is about
180-200 calories, which is approx the same as a bowl of breakfast cereal. 'Old-wives'-gossip' says that this drink is a natural anti-inflamitant, and is super-sticky so that it clings to the lining of the gut, soothing and protecting it. Of course it won't work for everyone, but I've found it really helpful and comforting. I wish I could remember where I first read about
it. Good luck.
