Can't tolerate 5-ASAs - what's next?

My dr. has recently deduced that I can't tolerate the 5-asas. I've tried loads of things, most recently apriso, dipentum, colazal but I have terrible reactions to all of them. Right now I'm on prednisolone and doing fine just on that, but I know I will need to add something else before I'm completely tapered off. For those who can't tolerate 5-ASAs, what is generally the next drug that is tried? Right now I'm just in contact with my dr. for v. short phone conversations each week where he checks in to see how I'm doing and then reduces the pred.-so i'm not sure when he will try to add in another medication. Would love to know what others have done and what's typical beforehand.

I cannot tolerate 5ASA's either. Your GI will probably have you try 6mp or Imuran next.

Most GIs will prescribe an immune suppressant like AMK77 said. However, some doctors will go ahead and prescribe Remicade instead of 6MP or Imuran.

I cannnot take 5ASA's either.

Imuran did not help me much

I was then to go on remicade, then humira (if I could get on a study or approved).

Between Imuran and Remicade I got put on Cellcept for my kidneys and it can also help a small portion of UC patients. I am in remission w/that and 7.5 mg of pred.
