Well now i am really backed up!!!!

Doc sent me for xrays today and results were lots of blockage!!

It cant be the azathiaprine (Imuran), I have only been taking it for a week??!!

I am still on 50mg prednisone daily but doc is tappering that down from tommorow. He has put me on laxatives- seen no results as yet!!

How did i go from diarrhoea and bleeding too constipation??

Has anybody else experienced this??

Sorry about my spelling and grammer if any mistakes, I find it hard to think these days!!

It is either the medications or being ill or a combination of both!!

(Diagnosed with UC in March, hospitilised for a week with stomach bug in late may, discharged and a few days later my worst flare of UC hit. Started Azathiaprine (imuran) a week ago.)

Hi again,
Okay so I read another persons recent post on here about constipation and your replies to try apples and fibre.

Well this scares me so much because I dont want to bring back the severe bleeding which has stopped since I have been avoiding these foods!!!

Please help- I dont know what to do and my stomach is all tight!!

Someone suggested spinich which I am eating already but it is not helping!!

How long do laxatives take to work? I took one at lunch and one at dinner- not sure if i should take another??!!

I'm all over the place as far as "movements" are concerned. I try to do the fiber thing if I get constipated and if it gets too bad, I take Milk of Magnesia before I go to bed, which will get the "motor running" by morning. I was diagnosed 1 1/2 years ago and still haven't put it into remission. I've done a lot of experimentation with supplements and probiotics which has helped immensely. Currently, I'm taking 3 fish oil capsules a day and an Align (probiotic) daily. Also, I'm taking azathioprine (Imuran) 3 times a day. I can say that I'm feeling way better than a month ago!

Fiber has to be accompanied by plenty of fluids. Colonic massage and gentle exercise might help get things moving, too.

Instead of apples maybe try apple juice? You get more of the apple-y properties in liquid form. Might help. I dunno. Maybe try looking up some natural remedies for constipation. Caffeine makes me go to the bathroom more. But I'm not sure what to tell you. If I run across anything I'll let you know! I hope you start feeling better!

Okay I have tried Coffee , more laxatives, massaging, loads of water, vegies and fresly juiced apples. Very little movement and still feel tight!! Not sure what else to do!! Am really scared to take benefibre or something incase it brings back the bleeding ahhh

Are you walking? that could help. Massaging is a good idea.

Are you on any other medications?

What did your doctor suggest regarding the stool in your colon?

Do you have any rectal inflammation?

I am up and walking, not actually able to go for a walk down the street as such cos of the pretnizone and my joints plus pressure feet.

I have been massaging.

My doc just suggested I take laxatives. First he said about one sachet and after he saw my xrays he said take up to 8 sachets untill I do a good amount of stool.

Not sure about rectal inflammation, but it is a bit tender, not as bad as when I had severe diarrhoa though.

Other medications: 50mg Imuran, 9 collazide daily, Coli- foam, Swiss multi- vitamin, fish oil tabs, 2 probiotics and 3 slippery elm tabs.
