What vitamin E do you use for enemas?

I use the Whole Foods brand '365'' -- 100% Natural, wth mixed tocopherols.

It comes in softgels. I pierce one end of the gelcap with a needle and squeeze out the oil. It takes just a few minutes to prepare the enema, so it's not a problem at all for me.

I use vitamin shoppe brand. I only squirt in 4 caps, so it really only takes like a minute to do. I have never made a mess so not sure what others are doing. Poke a hole in one end squeeze and repeat. I get 1000 IU.

For me squeezing 20 capsules takes awhile. It is also so hard to wash off my hands, (which is one of the reasons I think it works, coating the ulcer so it can heal). I have been buying vitamin E oil from Now Foods, they have three different kinds and I can't tell which one is best. Anyone have a clue? It's a little confusing, I wonder what Sheldon uses.

Thanks Mudua, I looked at the SOLGAR brand it is 100 IU for 5 drops (so 8000 IU is 400 drops). So a 4 OZ bottle lasts 5 uses, not bad.

I have been buying the last one because it concentrated, but, I go through a bottle every four or so days. I may try the SOLGAR.


Anyone think 8000 IU is really high? I wonder how much we are absorbing into our blood.

I have often gone up to 8000 IU (20 x 400 IU gelcaps). That's because when I do the enema I always seem to see a lot of oil still leftover in the bottle.

How IU are your caps? What brand?
Squeezing 4 or 8 is not as big a deal as squeezing 20.

Dr-A, I agree that it makes sense to re-use the bottle and not waste oil, and I think Sheldon also mentioned not having to wash out the bottle so that oil lines the inside of it.

I just feel more comfortable using a new bottle each time as I want it to be sterile and not risk it being contaminated with anything (even if it's been lying around just for a day) before I do the enema -- just a personal preference.

I just started doing the the vitamin e thing. I've worked my way up to 8000IU by squeezing 8 1000IU caps into my Salofalk (5ASA)enema. So far I've been pleased with the results.

I think it's important to use natural source vitamin e and not synthetic. As far as I know, the type that comes in the bottles used for cosmetic reasons are synthetic...not positive if they're all like that though.

Is the food grade oil from NOW foods from a natural source? thanks.

ETA - I just found the e oil on the NOW website. Apparently all their vitamin e oils are from a natural source. They do have a 4 oz. bottle that's equivalent to 54,600 IUs.

I just went on their website and found the e oil in a bottle. I wonder if it's more economical to use the caps or the bottle.
