Made it to School today

My son started back to school today. I have been very nervous about it. My worst time of the day is morning and I was afraid I would not be able to get him to school on time. I have to drive him. It is about a 10 minute drive from our house. Only one gas station between home and school and I have to wait through 1 traffic light which always makes me nervous and makes me have cramping.

Usually I stay in the bathroom til about 8:10 a.m. before I start out to work, which starts at 8 a.m. I live about 10 minutes from work now also. Sometimes I still cannot make it to work without having an accident or stopping to go to the bathroom. Luckily my job allows me to be late if I need to be.

I have just been so worried that I couldn't get my son to school on time. But I did. No cramping really. No accidents. YEAH! I hope it continues. He has a new principal this year and she seems really strict. I'm afraid she will punish him for my medical condition making him late for school.


How do you all deal with mornings or your worst times when you have to be at a place at a certain time?

When it's really bad & you have to leave the house in the AM, take a half-dose of liquid Immodium. It'll buy you about 4 hours of bathroom free relief. I have to head into Boston tomorrow, leave at 8:30ish & it'll take a good 2 hours to get there. Yes, I fully plan to dose up on the Immodium around 7:45! I also make a stop at the bathroom at my daughter's school in the AM- we drive there, takes about 10 minutes, I drop her off, hit the restroom, then head to work, another 15 minutes away. Works out ok- I have had accidents in the past, but theya re few & far between.

I also think you need to talk to the principal so she/he knows what is going on. Also, I know how long I usually take in the mornings so if I have to leave earlier I get up earlier. I also use immodium and or xanax for the super special occasions like job interviews or flying. For your situation I might have used it just to build up my confidence that hey, I can do this. Finally, if the school knows about your difficulties they would probably let you use the bathroom when you get there. That way it wouldn't be as long for you to be away. Do you have to actually get out of the car or can he walk inside himself? I only ask because if you only have to drop him off you could wear an adult diaper and if an accident happen when you were just almost there you could keep going. I have never used one but if no one had to see you I don't think 3 minutes would make a huge difference as gross as it would be.

I had a similar victory in taking my girls to story hour yesterday. I was so happy, just like you! It certainly is the little things.

There are generic versions of Rowasa (usually just called "mesalamine enema") that should be pretty affordable. Even if you can't use a whole one, a half or even a third would help. You could use a canasa after your morning runs to the toilet and the enema at night.
