I'm doing the MoviPrep in 2 parts, half tonight, half in the morning. It's been two hours since I started and have already had like 10 movements. It started off pure liquid with little to no solids. Is this normal? How long does it last until it slows down?

Absolutely it's normal for a prep to have pure liquid. Usually it will slow down a couple hours after your last dose but everyone is different on how their body responds to the prep.

I slowed down around midnight when I did my last moviprep. Good luck tomorrow.

I just had one with the Movi-Prep last week and I started off with loose stools and went to all liquid by the 2nd or 3rd movement.  I did probably have 10-15 liquids stools before it tapered off 2-3 hours after I did my dose. 

I did the second dose and everything was liquid.  I had probably 5-10 BM's in 1-2 hours and was done.  I had to laugh because my BM's that round were all yellow liquid, the only solids that came through were 4 Asacols I had taken the morning before!!  I guess they do stay in your system awhile!!

Scope is over. I opted to do it with no sedation or pain medication. I had the IV in just in case it got really painful, and they had the syringes ready to go if I asked. Most uncomfortable part was the rectum and bend from descending to transverse. When it was all over she was really amazed I made it through non medicated. She said only a handful of people have. I really wanted to see everything on the monitor with a clear head and I figured I could tough it out. On a 1-10 pain scale I'd rate it a 4, and mostly was just weird pressure.

Now on to the results. She said I had an excellent prep. No polyps, tumors, ulcerations....NOTHING! She found internal hemorrhoids upon entering (2), and saw occasional mucus on the colon lining. So she's saying my bleeding was probably from my hemorrhoids and fissure, as it was always red and on outside of stool. She says I may have a touch of IBS which is why I have extra mucus in my stool. That is probably causing the harder/pellet/mucus covered parts of my stools. She basically said "see me when your 50, colon looks fantastic!"

Wonder if I should wait until 50, or try to get one earlier as I don't want to be in my 40s with cancer.

Wow, no sedation?! You are a braver soul then me that's for sure! When I had my very first scope I was only lightly sedated and it really hurt. So for then on no more light sedation for me! But I'm glad to hear that everything turned out great. So does this mean that you don't have Uc then?

No UC. Colon was clean and pink. Guess its just hemorrhoids and maybe a touch of IBS. Weird.

Weird in what way? Did the doc take some biopsies anyway?....from the sounds of it she didn't.

I would suggest that if you continue to have any other problems to see her again, but it's awesome you have no inflammation or other serious stuff happening in there.

Did she make any suggestions regarding the IBS such as fibre supplements?

I would suggest those as well as probiotics.

Hi quincy,

It felt weird as in pressure inside of me I never felt before... when the scope was going around. Remember I wasn't sedated :) No biopsies were taken because there was nothing to biopsy, all looked normal. She suggested I take in 30 grams of fiber a day to keep things moving. The hemorrhoids weren't inflamed and were small, so nothing is to be done with them.

I wonder if a lot of my symptoms might have been stress/anxiety over all this before I had the procedure...

Sherry, I had that same experience with my first scope. I wasn't sedated enough, and when they pumped air in it was very painful. I suspect it may have been because I was in a terrible flare at the time. Instrumentation of an inflamed colon with open sores has to be much more painful than that of a healthy colon.

Still, I make sure I have adequate sedation now.

cromartie...I would agree that the the stress of seeing any rectal bleeding can exacerbate any gut issues. IBS, while passed over easily, can be very disconcerting and intrusive in one's life.

You're young yet old enough to realise the value of adjusting your diet and finding ways to manage your stress levels in order to help your gut issues.

Again, if there's something wonky going on that's over and above the norm of your "normal"...go back to the doc.
