Hi Q,
The levator ani has been very tough to deal with as the pain is the worst I've ever felt, but I'm hoping it's at least not a Pudendal Nerve issue which is much worse and can be very hard to treat surgically and or with meds. I am off for special pelvic floor PT late this month and thankfully there are very good success rates for PT and levator ani...I haven't been able to sit comfortably in over two months and the burning pain following a BM can be extreme touture : ( I also have been having problems with my upper tailbone/lower saral area which is also very tender at times and creates another area that's hard to sit on...boy all this new stuff has been a true test of my resolve.
Proctofoam is a 1% cortisone vs 10% for the cortifoam but you use proctofoam 2-3 times per day, everyday and after each BM according to their website, but I'll ask my GI about it when he calls. Here the info on proctofoam:
Shake the aerosol container before using. Insert 1 applicatorful into anus 2 or 3 times daily and after each bowel evacuation.
The foam may also be placed on a perianal pad and applied externally as required to relieve pain and itching.
One application contains 375 mg of mucoadhesive base containing 1% hydrocortisone acetate USP (3.75 mg/dose) and 1% pramoxine hydrochloride USP (3.75 mg/dose).
I just wish Rowasa was available in the US as a foam then I'd switch back to Rowasa in a minute.
Thanks,
bbc

bbc...that's not good news, but I can't see using them consistently and not having some side effects because of the steroid.....you certainly have friends in high places.
Maybe proctofoam would be a good replacement? lower dosage of steroid....
...off to google ischial rectal fossa...
