  ok...I will go poo and finally think I am done...and then Wham! Anywhere between 2 to 5 mins later I have to go some more!  Always after I stand up...Some times I even get out of the room to somewhere else then I have to go back....This happens when in flare or not....

Does this happen to anyone else?

usually happens to me when im flaring a lot but also when Im having anxiety. If Im waiting for a friend to come pick me up to go someplace, I pretty much sit in the restroom before leaving because Ill have to go multiple times and I know its caused for me personally by anxiety.

This happens to me during flares (happened this morning in fact). I think it has to do with the inflamed tissue, such a small path for waste to travel, that you getting up, moving, allows things to "shift" a bit then make their way a little further so that you feel the need to go again. Annoying yes but I would call this "normal" from my experience. Not always, but a quite often during flares.

Often I'll walk around the bathroom for a while to see if there is anymore to come before I leave! Too many times I am racing back because I got cocky and left before I was apparently done.

Every morning, even now that I'm in remission. I have to get up 30 minutes earlier than I should have to just so I can get everything out and still leave for work on time.

Sure happens to me, almost every morning. Other times of the day it happens only if there's some inflammation going on.
I've been keeping a daily poop count since my current (almost healed) flare began last September and sometimes I've wondered, if I just took a book and stayed in the bathroom would my poop count be lower....? (I know, that would be cheating!)
In this little book I've also recorded meds and every single doggone bite I've eaten......
Whew, the things we never thought we'd be thinking about....!

I get that only if I'm flaring.

It could be for you FairyGen that you may not recognise low inflammation in the rectum and are actually still flaring.

It "could" as well be IBS.

You should be on rectal meds....


You should consider to use a fibre supplement to help bulk up the stool and help regulate the peristalsis. That alone might help the extra bms in the morning.

If you are having IBS, an antispasmodic taken at night before bedtime might also help.

I still lean toward still flaring if there's urgency once you're past having the initial urge to go.

How many bms are you having during the day?

Some days I am having 3 or 4 and some days I am having 1 or 2. I am taking a fiber supplement and for the most part I have form for the majority of all the movements. Periodically I have a watery or loose one.

There is a definately and urgency to go after the initial movement. Sometimes it starts as just gas, but then I can feel it coming down the pipe so to speak and "have" to push..

I am probably starting a flare because I have recently almost quit smoking..(down to 2 a day with the occasional nicotine lozenge). I have only seen the Dr once since my scope and diagnosis...We didn't talk much about other forms of stuff and he seems kinda miffed that I had already researched the disease in the week between the scope and visit.

I have a question..What came first for you the PCS/PBS or UC? My mother has PBS or maybe it's PCS. She refuses to see if she has UC and is convinvced its the Urso that is making her have diareah. He LFT are back to normal also...I am paranoid about getting PBC or damaging my liver incase I do. What meds for UC can you not take because of the liver?

It happens to me when i m tensed/during anxiety...and ofcourse, during flares...

FairyGen, if your GI seemed miffed you'd taken the initiative to research UC, I'd find a new GI if I were you. My GI thinks it's great that I have done so much research, and we've had great discussions regarding my treatment and what may come in the future. Just a thought.

Hi FG....you definitely need to be on rectal meds to deal with that inflammation. The Lialda isn't enough.

I don't know in truth which was first, but my LFTs didn't increase to the point of concern until about 11 years ago.

Diarrhea with your mom could be from the fact that she has PSC I think, maybe the URSO as well...what's her dosage?

It's possible that one inherits the disease....I have no idea if others in my family have/had it.

I'm hardcore 5ASA meds, and I believe that keepping the colon in as low inflammation as possible is what can help the PSC in a quiet state as well. I'm still in early stages and the LFTs have been continually normal since starting the URSO about 5 years ago (I think..have to check on that).

I think I would pass on the immunosuppressants and the pred and prefer to have my colon out if the 5ASA meds stopped working for me.

I don't drink except for a nip of wine occasionally.

I do take tylenol once a day at least....some say it's a huge NO for the liver...sigh....

I do drink coffee, however, which I've read is good for the liver...so that's a plus.

I did take milk thistle, but don't anymore...no reason except it's one less thing to take.

Call the doc or go and get on rectal meds...I would suggest the Rowasa (if you're in the US)

You won't be able to stop the PSC if it's on its way, but please don't have an ERCP if it's ever suggested. You might want to ask your doc if he can set you up eventually for a MRCP to see if you are in early stages. You might have legit claim considering your mom has it....how sad she does.

It takes a while to get the UC flares/meds worked out.

Thank you...I personally think her diareah got worse after the urso, but I believe it was there prior to starting just not as bad...I think she is on the same dose as you but goes against dr's orders and takes it all at night before she goes to bed do she can keep it all in...

Her doctors were shocked that her LFT's went back to normal...I wonder if that is because she has PSC and not PBC. She had her gall bladder out years ago though...

I don't take any pain meds yet but I am getting achey in the joints but ignor it so far. I will press him into rectal meds.. I am not liking this lialda side effects too much.

This happens to me all the time.

It even happened on a smaller scale before I got 'sick.' In fact, my entire family does this. They're always going before a trip, an interview, etc. I don't know. It's just something random with my family because they can actually hold it and be 'ok.'
