Anyone here ever had cellulitis??

I have a raised, swoolen area just above my ankle on my bad leg - it is hurting some and little warm and little red.  I have so many problems with that leg for years so not sure but this feels/looks different!

Should I try to see a doctor before next week - from your experience - or just wait and see - elevate??  Whatever?  I have not had any sores there but was taking 6 MP for 4 months or so.

Mitzo - you been in those "happy" pills again?  Cellulite is very serious but I don't mind your "humor"  - we always need that!

Go to the doc. Cellulitis is nothing to mess with, then again.

I thought I had  cellulitis or a spider bite in my leg, wrong it was a PVT peripheral vein thrombosis,

I have had 3 in the past 10 years.

Some people with long standing UC are prone to PVT or worse.

Yes, I do plan on seeing a doctor or my NP - calling tomorrow -may get in before holiday weekend.  I have not had UC long standing but I am obese and very bad osteroarthritis.  ElaineNY

Call your doctor. Those symptoms could also signal a thrombosis, which can be life threatening. And as Mike said, celluliltis is not to be ignored. In the meantime, elevate it. Don't apply heat until you know what's going on. If it's a clot you don't want to get it started moving toward your lungs.

I did consider blood clot but I don't have any pain except when I apply pressure - however, only a doctor would know for sure.  I will call tomorrow. - Thanks everyone!

Although I have to admit, I saw cellulite at first too, and giggled (but I didn't know what cellulitis was).

Yikes Elaine...call the doc and get it dealt with asap. Cellulitis can be very serious.

Let us know what the doc said.

Much better this morning.  When I was on prednisone my feet and legs were very swollen and this seems like some leftovers.  All my joints are aching also.  I am considering waiting until Tuesday and with the holiday weekend I don't believe I would get very good care unless emergency!  My feet are pretty good this morning considering what they were and that spot on my leg not warm today or hurting.

As far as UC goes - no problems this week - tiny blood and mucous but only two BM's every morning with few cramps. I tried Cortifoam or Anusol every other day for a week and ended up with same side effects - swelling inside and out so stopped that. I see NP the 16th and Albany specialist October 8.

 I know UC is there but can "live with it"  I would love the prednisone BACK!!

  Just very tired and hurting from arthritis!!

hi i had something very similar painful red patches on lower leg the docs said it was erythema nodosum
